The Sea Breeze and Materials
When decorating a beach house or to choose materials for this we have several issues into account because the sea breeze may disadvantage some elements that we choose for our creations. Keep reading because we’ll give you tips to succeed in your choices.
First one of the greatest enemies of the sea breeze is iron, anything that is made of iron will rust quickly, because the breeze carrying sea salts in their composition are rapidly corrode the material. If for example we have some iron railings or handrail and do not want to substitute other materials, the ideal is that you paint giving it a coat of primer first and then a glaze, to make the two layers of coverage against the breeze.
If we have an awning or something else that has screws of iron and they are outdoors, it’s best to cover them during the winter with Vaseline and then put them cling film, so protect them from the action of the sea breeze. The material that best supports the weather in coastal areas is aluminum, it has no rust so quickly and if you choose a type of aluminum coating comes, it will resist even more.
In the bedroom, particularly in the mattress, there is also a material that does not get along too well with the beach, this is the latex. The latex to be resilient and adaptive capacity suffers from the wind reducing these properties and you’re wondering what I can do if I want to wear a latex mattress on the beach? For the best advice is to opt for a memory foam because it does not feel affected by the sea breeze and retains all its features intact.
In general, when making an interior in the beach area should be studied very well what kind of materials can feel affected by the sea breeze, because these small details can disadvantage our design.
